April 3rd, 2020 Reading Time: 2 minutes

Marcus & Alana French

What’s your favourite food?

Fish and chips! It’s actually roast beef dinner but you have to say fish and chips, don’t you?

What’s been your best food experience?

Steak flambeed at our table in Gibraltar. The time, place and atmosphere were all just perfect.

Who would you love to serve in your shop/business?

Prince Charles. He has been in our shop when he was a child, but it was before my time.

If money was no object, what would you buy for your shop/business?

A new roof and balcony area as we’ve got such a great position with panoramic views of the quay, but it would mean closing the shop for six months.

If you weren’t doing this, what else would you be doing?

Science or medicine. I always wanted to but family needs came first.

Favourite book.

E numbers by Stefan Gates.  It busts the myths surrounding the additives and preservatives that make up Britain’s most feared ingredients. Stelios gave it to me.

Where would you like to retire?

I’d like to stay where I am in Wells but have lots of holidays too.

What item will you not leave for work without?

My phone and I bet 99/100 will say the same. Money before cards though.

If there was one thing you would like to see happen that would make running a small business easier/better what would it be?

Robotic staff!

What would you name your boat if you had one?

I have a small boat already with no name. The harbour office call in “No Name”. So the next boat will have to be “No Name 2”!

What’s the most useless talent you have?

I can talk like Donald Duck.

What is the dumbest way you’ve been injured?

I hurt my leg dancing on a table on my 50th birthday. The table collapsed completely!

What quote or saying do people spout but is complete BS?

Cutting a story short, which means only 20 minutes left of them talking.

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen recently?

A film review of For Sama, a story about living in Aleppo during the Syrian War.

What did you think was cool when you were young but isn’t now?

Pretending to smoke cigarettes – I do not like people smoking.

If you had a theme song, what would it be?

The house is on fire, but everyone is safely out and all wallets/cash are saved. If you could make one last dash to get something, what would it be?

All the old photos.

If you could change three things about your country, what would you change?

Better health care and eradicate corruption and poverty.

Do you have any ridiculous goals in life?

Win Fish & Chip Shop of the Year and write a book.

What food combination do you want to ban?

Root beer. Tastes like the smell of Germolene antiseptic cream.
