QUESTION TIME WITH… NIKKI WILLIAMS, KFE LIMITED

Reading Time: 3 minutes
Nikki Willliams

Nikki is running the London Marathon 2020 to raise money for Children with Cancer UK, Why not give him a boost and donate..

What’s your favourite food?

Nikki Williams roast beef

It’s hard not to say my mum’s Sunday Roast, but I will have to say haddock and chips (skin on!). Having grown up living above and behind our shops, the smell of fish and chips always gets me.

What’s been your best food experience?

Nikki Williams Tom Kerridge

Eating at Tom Kerridge’s Hand and Flowers. To eat food of that quality in such a relaxed environment was just fantastic. I’ve probably eaten what is deemed to be better dishes in finer restaurants but I’ve never tasted English classics cooked so well.

If money was no object, what would you buy for your business?

I would employ a full-time chauffeur. I love getting around the county, meeting new people and seeing all the great things customers are doing, but the number of miles can be quite gruelling.

If you weren’t doing this, what would you be doing?

A copper in London. I loved every day of the ten years I spent in the police and only working for my family business and selling the best frying range on the market took me away from that.

Favourite book?

Nikki Williams D DAY

D-Day by Stephen Ambrose. I am fascinated by World War 2 and this, in my opinion, is the best book written about one of the most pivotal days in modern history.

What do you do on your days off?

Spending time with my little girl is all I want to do on my days off but if that’s not possible then I’m quite partial to a pint!

What’s the most useless talent you have?

Drinking a flaming sambuca on my knees and holding the burning flame in my mouth for longer than is probably recommended.

What is the dumbest way you’ve injured yourself?

I fell into a bin bag in Leicester Square and cut my arm on a broken bottle inside. It required plastic surgery but I have subsequently persuaded my nephew I was bitten by a shark when living in Australia.

What quote or saying do people spout but is BS?

Live each day as if it’s your last. If that was the case I would be in Vegas, on a poker table, drinking a gin and tonic right now!

If you had a theme song, what would it be?

Little Ol Wine Drinker Me. Apart from the obvious, it was our tour song when attending the British Lions visit to New Zealand in 2005.

The house is on fire, but everyone is safely out and all wallets/cash are saved. If you could make one last dash to get something, what would it be?

There’s a framed photo of me and my daughter sticking our tongues out at the camera that was given to me by someone very special and I now don’t have another copy, so I would battle flames to go back and get that.

If you could change three things about your country, what would you change?

I would change the Premier League rules to prevent Liverpool winning this season. I would punish all drivers who don’t indicate at roundabouts with an on the spot five-year driving ban. And I would close all outlets who advertise fish and chips and don’t (or won’t) tell the customer what fish it is!

Who is the most impressive famous person alive today?

Jacinda Ardern, the New Zealand PM. I am sick of our politicians so to see someone of such courage and humility lead her country through such tragedy was awe-inspiring.

Do you have any ridiculous life goals?

To run a marathon in under 4.30 hours. I am doing my fourth and final marathon in London this April and my best time so far is just over five hours, but I am determined to quit on a high by raising a load of money for Children with Cancer UK.

How did you find out that Santa wasn’t real?

I’d asked Santa for a Commodore 64 and got up in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve to find my mum and dad wrapping said present. I snuck back and didn’t tell them as I didn’t want to ruin the day.

Where would you like to retire?

Nikki Williams Margaret River Australia

Margaret River in Western Australia. Sat on the coast four hours south of Perth, Margaret River is one of the most scenic and beautiful places I’ve ever been to. Coupled with the fact it has some of the best wineries in the world, producing some outstanding Cabernet Sauvignons, it’s a no brainer.

What food combination do you want to ban?

Nikki Williams breakfast

Beans and scrambled eggs touching each other on a fried breakfast. The texture clash makes me feel violently ill.
